Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) refers to accommodation for people who require specialist housing solutions, including to assist with the delivery of supports that cater for their extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.
Specialist Disability Accommodation is already being put on the ground by some of our clients under the current SDA Design Category Requirement Guidelines.
Devcert has been providing preliminary desktop design advice, compliance assessments, and site compliance inspections for proposed Specialist Disability Accommodation and will provide the certification required under the SDA Rules as part of the Specialist Disability Accommodation required enrolment process.
The NDIS SDA Design Standard for accommodation became available on the 25th of October 2019, however, it does not become mandatory until 1st July 2021. The industry has already started to apply the NDIS SDA Design Standard as it provides comprehensive design details that achieve the required outcomes of the current SDA Design Category Requirement Guidelines.
